First time (Acts 9: 3-8) Christ said to Paul “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.” Peoples who was with Paul stood speechless, they see noting, only heard voice.

Second time (Acts 22: 6- 11) Christ said to Paul “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?(..) I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting”. This time Paul friends seen light, but heard nothing.

In third story (Acts 26: 14) Christ words was ”Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.(…) I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you, delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles- to whom I am sending you to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.” And this time everyone seen light and heard voice.

Its only one more example of mythologisation- Paul him self newer claimed nothing like that. Him stated, that revelation was only personal experience (Gal 1: 15-16), same as other his visions and ecstasies (2 Cor 12: 7). But Acts of Apostles was written probably few decades after Paul, by person who hardly ever knew him in person and filled his work with Christians folk- tales about the founder of they’r cult.

And one more detail- according Acts of Apostles, after conversion, Paul was forced to flee from Damascus to Jerusalem, were he meet Jacob. But Paul him self says that from Damascus he traveled to Arabia and only after tree years he vent to Jerusalem (Gal 1: 17- 18).

The first tree chapters of Genesis contains no unique stories. Its more a graveyard of Mesopotamians mythology.
Later Genesis says, that first homeland of Abraham was Mesopotamia. This myth is memory of close relations between ancestors of Bibles authors and Mesopotamian cultures, same can be detected by myths of creation.
First of all, God created the world and life (1:1- 1:31), take a rest and then did it again (2:5- 2: 19).

Book of Genesis contains two myths of creations and that its result of re-editing, I mentioned in Genesis-1. In general, were is no surprise that ancient Hebrews have few myths on same issue, or versions of same myth. Its quite typical in fact and very natural- different versions appears because tribal and geographical subdivisions, and of course because of time.
For example- Greeks have few versions on Aphrodite’s origin. According one, she was daughter of Ouranos (and sister of Kronos, father of Dzeus), according another- she was daughter of Dzeus.
Similar differences can be find in any mythology but hardly were is another text giving both versions in same page, and both- as absolute undoubtable truth.
Jerusalem priests forgot to delete one version or merge them in to one, but its cleare they favor first.
And here appears Mesopotamians. One of Babylonians theogonical poems Enûma Eliš tels fallowing story:
In the beginning were was only water and chaos, from whom the gods born. Eventually this gods began to fight each other. God of chaos Apsu was killed by leader of gods of order- Ea. Apsu wife Tiamat decided to take her revenge. Son of Ea, Marduk fight her in great battle (Tiamat is usually shown as sea serpent, also a mother of serpents and dragons, so here we also see the origins of legend about Leviathan) and defeat her by cutting her in two pieces. One become the sky, other- the land. And from Tiamat blood, mixed with clay, first man appears.

From first sign this story do not have much common with Bible, but details of creation in Book of Genesis and in  Enûma Eliš is the same- creation of sky and earth, separation of water and earth,man creation in sixth day- all goes in same order, eventually in Sunday all gods rested and have the feast.
It most unlikely, that “Enûma Eliš” is first version of Book of Genesis, but its obvious, that  ancient Hebrews was under huge influence of Mesopotamia civilisations.
As world, man also was created twice.
And God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them (1:27)
Then the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (2: 12)

After creating man, God creates garden of Eden. This is also comes from Mesopotamian mythology, Sumerian this time- they version of Eden is known as Dilnum.
Bible indicate four rivers, who went out of Eden. Two of them- Tigris and Euphrates is major rivers of Mesopotamia (in fact, Mesopotamia means “between rivers”) and is known in same name today.
Pishon is still a mystery. Few hypothesis were proposed, most likely is Amu Darya. Gihon is a bit detailed, Bible says that river “encircling the entire land of Cush”, and that leads us to Africa.Its could be Nile, if we don’t take encircling literally, but were also many other hypothesis and both- Pishon and Gihon- is still unidentified.
The birth of Eve is quite a mystery, because God created her in most strange way- instead of looking for some more clay, he caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the place with flesh instead thereof. And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from the man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man ( 2: 21- 22).
Best guess is that this story is just a ancient version of “lost in translation”.
Sumerians had divinity named Nin- ti. It means “Lady who brings life” or “Lady who heals” (quite the same thing in days than most of injuries and diseases cosed death). But “ti” in Sumerian also means the rib. Probably ancient Hebrews used Nin- ti as one of prototypes for Eve and after that some strange and mysterious link between Eve and rib appear.
Eastern peoples always was known for they’r imagination, so and this time it was used to solve the case.

First book of the Bible is known as Genesis- in Greek its stand for “birth” and/or “origin”. Original, Hebrew name is Bereshith and its mean “in the beginning”.
As for now I will only talk about first 10 chapters of Genesis.
Myths contained are theogonic myths. This name derived from name of Hesiod poem Theogony, were poet describes the origin of universe, gods and man.

Many atheists know this stories quite well, because of many gabs and nonsenses.
But to me this nonsenses, so clearly visible to anyone, was a surprise to me, then I first time read Genesis.
Its much more complicated and illogical than other mythologies. of course, many atheists could simply say, that I’m looking for logic in wrong place, and ad some point they’r right, but mythic  
( its often mistake to confuse mythology and mythic.  Mythology- is science who study myths and mythic. Mythic is system of myths, an object of mythology studies )  is well-developed fantasy system, like Tolkien world,only much more complex. It have its own logic, and story goes by this logic.
But that’s hardly the case of Genesis and the Bible in general.
The reason is re-editing.
The Bible as we have it today was, more or less, formed in era after Babylon exile and before Hellenism, then Jerusalem was autonomous theocracy under Persians regime. But some parts of Bible can be traced back to 10th or it hen 11th century BC. While Bible go ts its final appearance were was an era of editing. Firstly some compilations of existing myths was made. Later, other persons, merged them with other compilations, added few notes, sciped few lines, they see as insignificant or heretical. Later, process was repeated. Time and time again. Its lasted for about 500 years ( its, of course only myth that Moses is original author of entire Pentateuch, but this legend probably marks beginning of Judaism written tradition ).
Result, as one can expect, is total mes.
Other reason is canonization- as its holly text, it is truth. And if
Another thing,must be mentioned- the idea of objectivity was not known. To rework all text the way you (or theological school you belong) thing is more appropriate or more likely was’t seen as falsification,but as quite natural thing, however strange such opinion we can see today.
So in Bible we see not only different myths (or fragments of them), but also and very different view on them.
In short words- its just more mess.

Did you know, that  Number of the Beast is not 666, but 616?
Yes, its true. At least it was true, till some Christians theologists decided otherwise. 666 was chosen probably because its better correspond to Number of the Christ- 888.
Till 2005 was known only one ancient text with 616 instead of usual 666. It’s V century Greek manuscript, known as Codex Ephraemi Rescriptus (Paris, National Library). Also few Fathers of Church mentioned 616, but with high scepticism.
Only in 2005 scholars of Oxford managed to read an papyrus known as Papyrus 115 ( not very original name, to think of it ). It was find in Egypt, place known as Oxyrhynchus. Name known probably to everyone who have interest in ancient history- many important pieces of ancient literature was find there, and Papyrus 115  (P115) can be considered a one of them. Its dated 225-275 CE and is oldest known version of Book of Revelation.
Red cursor  in picture (as you probably already understand its P115) show tree letters- XIC. In Greek its chi, iota and stigma. Here it’s abbreviation for “hexakosiai deka hex”- six hundred sixteen.

This small papyrus is probably one of most useful tools to silence Christians. Its enough to wait for inevitable phrase “because it is written….”. Then I put P115 on table and ask: “A you absolutely confident, that evangelists really written what you quoting?”
Its sophistical argument ( I call it argument 616 ), but it helpful then you want to avoid an annoying christian.

In present most annoying thing of religions is the way they recruit new followers. Usual tactic is “join us, or we will come and talk to you about Savior. Everyday.” In fact, every true  christian, Mormon or Muslim ( etc., etc. ) must to do something in favor of promotion of his faith.

Simplest way to do it- to find some lost soul in your school, college or just street and explain him the glory of [insert name of divinity].

I’m atheist and for some years mythology was my hobby. About 4 or 5 years ago one thing come to my mind- that Christians mythology I know least,despite fact that its not only much closer to me (physically) that Egyptians or Hindu gods, but also its can be very useful, having in mind, that some Christians can be very irritating with they’r “it is written”.

After some time, I become a less than a diplomed biblist, but newer-less quite a specialist and it was not hard to find out that such knowledge is useful for others atheist and for all not narrow-minded.

So I will put here text about origin and meaning of the Bible. Presently I thinking go on chronological order, but have no specific plans, its will depend on circumstances.
